How do you balance your artistic pursuits with your responsibilities as a father, and what advice would you give to other artists who are also juggling parenthood and a creative career?
In a nutshell - time management, less procrastination, much earlier curfews, Georgia’s (my wife’s) support at home ,and work in the evenings.

Home is home and ‘work’ is work.

Also - I try find space away from the house. You need take a minute to switch from family head space to creative headspace, and you can’t do this at home. It’s big change in attitude towards time and experimentation. There is less time, so less creating for creation’s sake. Now that time is precious with two little kids, there are more scheduled blocks of time to create for purpose. It’s a massive shift to come to terms with, but it’s the way it is and you have to adapt to more structure and routine. I wonder what I was doing with my time before children!

How has becoming a father influenced the themes or subjects you explore in your art?
My work has been quite positive from the beginning so no radical changes so far, but I am watching Sterling’s development with the paintbrush and he’s beginning to have a style…I might pinch his vibe!

Can you share a memorable moment or experience you've had with your children that has inspired your work?
Lego….its just a magical toy of endless ideas. So sculptural. It’s definitely a great tool for art in action and Sterling and I have created some wild shapes and scenes.

Daimon wears After Pray top and jacket, Jacquemus pants, and Y-3 shoes.

How do you nurture creativity and artistic expression in your children?
Everything is about play and that’s not just for the kids - that’s also for me. Cooking to drawing, they will have their hand in there. If the TV is on with a lot of music video clips and concerts. Musical instruments are everywhere. Not that I’m grooming them as such, but you teach what you know. The real lessons come from their own imaginations and exploration.

What role do you think art plays in shaping the identity and development of young minds?
I think it’s fundamental on so many levels. It feeds self esteem and confidence and it allows freedom to express thoughts and emotions. It’s joyful, beautiful and strange. It’s communication. It’s nurturing ideas.

Daimon wears Y-3 t-shirt, Dries Van Noten jacket and pants, and Y-3 sneakers.

Are there any particular artists or designers who have had a significant impact on your own style and artistic vision?
All the classics like Miro, Matisse, Rothko,  Klimt and Mondrian were early inspiration as a child when I was developing my thoughts toward art, and I think they still have an influence now.

What brands and pieces are currently on your wishlist from Parlour X?
Hit me with that Jacquemus La Chemise Simon Monogramme shirt,  or an After Pray  Leather Blouson jacket and I’ll be a happy boy.

What upcoming projects or collaborations can we look forward to seeing from you in the near future?
Very excited to have a few shows planned for November in Perth and Byron Bay..

There are also new collab projects currently in play and new website for my prints launching.
