This Japanese label was founded by Chitose Abe who launched her company following extensive experience working at Comme des Garcons under the tutelage of Rei Kawakubo. As can be seen from the connection with the irreverent brand, Sacai is a quirky label that takes understated pieces and embellishes them with intriguing details. Abe has a tendency to conjure eclectic looks splicing different fabrics together for an incongruous finish. Pleats are juxtaposed, sheer sections are placed on items and high necks or demure hemlines provide a sultry feel and imply an offbeat twist. Loose and masculine silhouettes are paired back with amped tulle fringing for a wonderfully playful aesthetic.
